We have been to Milwaukee many times, and when we make the trip, we often stay with friends and family. I’ve made it clear that I am not a city gal, but there really is nothing like visiting Milwaukee! It’s such a fun city and certainly underrated in the grand scheme of things. My sister and best friend live in Milwaukee, and we don’t visit them nearly enough, but we manage to check out new spots every time we do visit. On our most recent visit, we switched things up and stayed in a beautiful rental.
Tucked into the quiet Bay View neighborhood of Milwaukee you can find an Airbnb from every Potterhead’s dreams, Harry’s Hideaway! This charming house is spacious and available for short and long-term rentals. The details of this house will impress anyone, but they leave Harry Potter fans speechless! I loved that each room had a different theme—the living room was The Burrow, the bathroom was the House of Black/Headquarters, and the kitchen was all about Herbology. The beds are comfortable, the full kitchen has all the essentials, and they even have lots of board games for you to play. The details truly are unmatched! You can spot dirigible plums, Felix Felicis, the Black family tree, the Hogwarts house point tracker, and so much more!
This rental sleeps four very comfortably and has over a 4.9 rating! At Harry’s Hideaway, you are a short walk to Lake Michigan, close to great restaurants, and near all the action of the city.

WHERE TO EAT
There is no shortage of good eats in Milwaukee’s Bay View neighborhood! If you can get a reservation, I recommend Heirloom MKE. They have a very unique menu that impressed our whole group. The cocktails were yummy and unlike anything else we saw over the weekend!
You may have seen Crafty Cow on Instagram, and we can confirm that their food is just as good as it looks! I was so happy to learn that the founder is an alumni of my high school. They are well known for their award winning chicken sandwich, which Hayden loved! The sandwich is offered with your choice of sauce/heat, but he really liked the 414 Fire. I devoured a chicken sandwich with a biscuit and sausage gravy on top! I highly recommend getting the sweet potato waffle fries as a side. They’re so yummy and are served with a side of marshmallow fluff—Brilliant! How have I never thought of that?!
GRAB A COCKTAIL
If you want a really good cocktail, I highly recommend a stop at The Mothership! This fun bar has a great selection of high end liquor in a cozy, casual setting. They also have a local food truck parked out back with all sorts of unique french fry baskets that I highly suggest checking out. If you’re looking for some old school vibes or a seasonal drink, check out At Random! They have everything from ice cream drinks to hot toddies.
GO LOCAL
We never take a trip to Milwaukee without venturing to the Historic Third Ward to shop local goods at the Milwaukee Public Market. Every time I’m in the city, I stop by The Spice House to get some goodies! In addition to locally made products, treats, and snacks, the market also has a wine bar, tiki bar, and lots of great “mini” restaurants. Think: a food hall offering small batch groceries and fully cooked, ready to eat options. We always try to get at least a bloody or a cup of soup at St. Paul Fish Company. This is one of our favorite spots and everything they serve is so yummy!
STROLL THE LAKEFRONT
If you’re looking to stretch your legs, take a walk along the shores of Lake Michigan. You can soak in some views in Bay View Park close to Harry’s Hideaway or take the short drive up to Lakeshore State Park. This state park is right on the shore of Lake Michigan and a great way to spend the afternoon. You can walk or bike (check out the Bublr bikes to rent a bike to take around the city) the lake shore and check out the gorgeous red lighthouse and views of the Hoan Bridge. There is a nice, small beach and lots of room to relax on the grass.
If you are looking for a fun weekend away, I highly recommend checking out Harry’s Hideaway. Whether you want to stay in to play games and watch movies or explore the city, it’s the perfect destination!
